Welcome to the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! If you've hopped with us before you know the drill, if you haven't here's the deal: Bombshell Stamps has a blog hop on the last Wednesday of every month! Alison, our Challenge Captain, sets a theme for that month, you sign up in the Bombshell forum (click here to see what I'm talking about), the day before the hop she gives us the hop list and we post our projects on our blogs along with the hop list. It's a lot of fun, if you enjoy using your Bombshell Stamps and have a blog you should totally join along with us next month! While you are visiting the forum make sure to sign up for it because I hear there's some free digis in there. (Just sayin!)
This month Alison chose "textures and layers" for the theme and you should have arrived here from her blog. If not, please start at the beginning with the Bombshell Stamps Blog so you don't miss anything!
I decided to create a card using the June Sketch since I haven't used it yet. There is still 5 days left to link up your take on the sketch too for a chance to win your own Bombshell Stamps set so, play along with us!
And here's my take on the sketch also using lots of layers and some texture.
I used the Mermaid Anchor stamp set for this nautical steampunk card. I also used the fish from Mermaid Treasure.
The mermaid was stamped in Tsukineko Memento Ink and colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I tried to give her some grey undertones to make her look like she was made out of steel. The cogs behind her are from the Silhouette Studio Online Store which I cut out in kraft paper and then inked with distress inks. The top cog has Glossy Accents on it to give it some glossy smooth texture.
The background of the card was stamped with the dolphin and anchor stamps from Mermaid Anchor and also cog stamps from Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells stamp line in distress ink. I also gave the little dolphins some cog goggles. I cut out tiny cogs with my Silhouette Cameo and then adhered a small piece of vellum underneath.
For some more texture, I painted some of the cogs and gears with yellow/gold liquid pearls and also used blue distress ink on a piece of fabric that I sewed onto the card. For layers, I used pop dots underneath some of the cogs and gears and also the mermaid.
You're next stop is Jodi's blog! Happy Hoppin!

(note: This post was edited (6/26 12pm est) to include better pictures of the card taken in daylight. The pictures posted earlier were really not very good and didn't really show the cards colors correctly.)
