Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween to all of you!

This month was a super busy month for me and unfortunately I did not meet my personal goal of posting 31 Halloween projects. I'm sorry about that if you were expecting to see a lot more Halloween projects! ( If only I could craft for a living! ) But I do have a project for today!

I finally finished my take on Bombshell Stamps October Sketch Challenge but I did flip it around a little.
Here's the sketch:

I created a wall hanging using the Mi Amor Stamp Set and this really cool Vampire-esque cardstock from DCWV. (You should be able to click on the pics to make them larger if you need to.)
Senora Muertas is one of my favorite stamps of all time.  I really wanted a new wall hanging for my craft room so once I saw the October Sketch by Kathi, our Bombshell DT Captain, the gears in my head started turning.  I wanted Senora Muertas to be the focal point but with a darker background and theme.  The forest background paper was perfect for this because it's mysterious. It makes you wonder, what could be lurking in the woods back there?  The base behind the forest is a black glitter cardstock.
Isn't she a beauty?!  I colored her with Spectrum Noir markers. I also highlighted around her in a light grey. The red background behind her has blood stains on it.  I backed it with a pretty blue glittered diamond and damask cardstock.
The 3D rose is a Silhouette Studio file by Lori Whitlock and was cut out with my Silhouette Cameo.  The Skull is from the Dead Necessities Stamp Set stamped onto grey cardstock from DCWV.
The Mi Amor sentiment was stamped with white ink onto a silver foil cardstock so it would look like an engraved charm. The key is from the Silhouette Online Store and was cut out with the Cameo. I hung the charm & key from black chain.
And here's what the full wall hanging looks like.  The patterned paper is from the 'Immortal Love' stack by DCWV.  The black glitter, silver foil and green cardstock is from the corresponding solid color stack. I ruffled some of the ribbon underneath the horizontal cardstock on the wall hanging to give it a little bit more of an elegant touch. The ribbon is from my stash, along with the chain and jump rings.

How are you celebrating Halloween today?! I'd love to hear! Leave me a comment!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!!!

Alison, our Challenge Captain, has chosen the theme 'The Witching Hour'!

I'm sorry that my card was not up on time for the beginning of the hop.  But it is here now for you to see!

I used A Pirate's Life and Holiday Accessory rubber stamp sets on my card.  I colored in the witch and her hat with Spectrum Noir markers.

The patterned cardstock, stickers, and witches' dance card are from Echo Park's "Chillingsworth Manor".  The doily was diecut with my Silhouette Cameo and a Studio File (Victorian Lace Big Border by Jamie Koay).

Please hop on to your next stop which is Alaine's blog!

Thank you for hopping with us! And beware the witching hour!

Bride of Frankenstein - Halloween Spooktacular Day 21

I used the Bride of Frankenstein digital stamp from Bombshell Stamps "Halloween Costume" Digital Stamp Set on this little treat bag.  She was colored with Spectrum Noir markers.
The bag is from SVG Cuts' 'Frightful Friends Treat Sacks' SVG Kit.  I cut out the Dracula bag from the kit and added the chevron rectangle to the front. I punched out small circles on the top with a hand hole punch.  The stars and lightning bolts are confetti by Sophie Gallo from the Silhouette Online store.  Lime cardstock is by Bazzill and patterned paper is by Doodlebug.  All svg/studio files were cut with the Silhouette Cameo.

Black Cat Crossing! - Halloween Spooktacular Day 20

  Watch Out! Black Cat Crossing!

I created this sign for my outdoor lawn decor using my Silhouette Cameo and this 'Black Cat Crossing Halloween Vinyl Saying' from Lori Whitlock (available in the Silhouette Online Store).

Have you made any outdoor decorations for Halloween?  Let me know below!

Easy Halloween Decor - Halloween Spooktacular Day 19

A few years ago I picked up a few packs of these Halloween die cut cardstock silhouettes from Dollar Tree.  There were quite a few diecuts in the pack. One package was bats, the other cats, another rats, another spiders and webs, etc.  I really wasn't sure what I was going to do with them as they've been sitting around for quite a few years as it is.  So this year I decided to use them for some outdoor Halloween Decor.

I didn't want to put vinyl outside on the house which is why I didn't just whip up some vinyl die cuts and stick them up. So I ended up laminating the diecuts and hanging them up with push pins.  (I know it's weird, I'd rather small holes that can be patched up rather then vinyl peeling off the paint or getting it all sticky.)  I guess I'd rather do it this way too because it reminds me of decorations we had when I was a child.  We used to decorate the porch with cardstock cats, scarecrows and jack-o-lanterns and hung them up with thumbtacks.

First I took the die cut -
Then put them in a laminating pouch and sent them through my laminating machine.
I cut them out around the edges and hung them up outside.
They were quick and easy to make. They've also held up well. Thankfully the weather hasn't been bad this week at all.

Jack-O-Lanterns - Halloween Spooktacular Day 18

Hello, hello!

This post right here on my Halloween countdown is going to be different then normal and not a crafty project created by me at all.

One evening this month, my boyfriend and I went to the Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze in Historic Hudson Valley NY.   I have been dying to go for years and we just never got tickets in time, but not this year.  This year I actually purchased tickets before they sold out!  It was absolutely AMAZING!!!!  If you love Jack O' Lanterns, Halloween and are looking for something different to do with your friends/kids/family, I definitely recommend going.  They do sell out and fast, so you need to by tickets in advance as you can not get them there.  You may want to sign up for the email list so you know when they go on sale next year.   Click here for a link to the Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze website if you are interested.   Seeing the more then 5,000 hand-carved Jack O' Lanterns all lit up was so cool and awesome, and I honestly can not wait to go next year!

Below are a few pictures from the event. Sorry they are not fantastic pictures, I am not very good at photography in the daylight nevermind the twilight and evening hours!

My pictures do not do these awe inspiring Jack O' Lanterns justice at all! You really must see them for yourself!

Happy Halloween!
- Kim

(I am not affiliated with the folks that run the Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze nor did I receive compensation to write this blog post.  I just simply wanted to share my wonderful experience and let my readers know about this event.)

Halloween Spooktacular Day 17!

It's Monday!  That means it's time for Muse Monday over at Bombshell Stamps blog.  This month Alter Skulls is being showcased, make sure to check out the past Mondays in October for more inspiration for this wonderful set!

I created this gravestone shaped card myself and cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo.  I then embossed the card and accent piece with a Sizzix/Tim Holtz embossing folder and my Cuttlebug.  I inked, stamped, colored and cut out the Alter Skull and Sugar Skulls with Candles from the Alter Skulls Stamp Set.  I also strung some beads and a cross on embroidery floss and added it to the card since it was a little plain up there.

Thanks for stopping by!

Halloween Spooktacular Day 16

Yep, I'm still catching up on my Halloween Countdown. I have projects made but pictures not taken or blogged. I'll post them as fast as I can to catch up since Halloween is almost here!

October 25th was Punk for A Day!  Some of the Bombshells created really rad projects for this Wacky Holiday (click here to see them!).   I created a pair of earrings for this holiday.  Now if you are punk everyday, you would probably wear these earrings any day of any month (like I totally would)... but if you are going to be Punk for just a day or Punk for Halloween then these earrings would be perfect.

I used the skull and crossbones from Man's Ruin by Bombshell Stamps for these earrings.  The spikes are from AC Moore I believe they are by Bead Giant, the beads and components from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by my blog!

Steampunk Vampire Coffin Card - Halloween Spooktacular Day 15

I'm still catching up and working on my countdown to Halloween! Am I the only one who can't wait for the premiere of the new show, Dracula, on NBC?! It looks like it is going to be fangtastic! Lol.

This is one of my favorite cards that I have ever made. I submitted it to a magazine for publication, but I never heard back, therefore it was rejected. Oh well... that means I get to share it with all of you!! I used some of my favorite things to create this card - Bombshell Stamps, files from SVG Cuts, my Silhouette Cameo, Colorbox ink....
Bombshell Angel has been transformed into a Steampunk Vampire.
The coffin card base, moon and corset are all files from SVGCuts!  I love the kit this card is from.  It's the Elmhurst Hollow SVG Kit.  I also love how easily my Silhouette Cameo cut them out too.
Bombshell Angel has been inked up, stamped and colored with Copic markers.  Her dress, boots and gloves are from the Bombshell Clothing Die Cut Collection, cut out in black and patterned papers with my Cameo.  Her hat was printed out, fussy cut and colored from the Halloween Costume Digital Stamps.  The bats are from Holiday Accessory.
I also stamped some of the bats on the inside!
Here's the back of the card. I love this paper from Graphic45!
The orange eyelets are by Recollections, the ribbon by Offray, and the metal wheel on the hat is from Lisa Pavelka's Steampunk Micro Elements.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!

Halloween Spooktacular Day 14 - Boo Box

I needed a Halloween Box for a gift and this one is one of my favorites!  It's the 'Boo Box' from the 'Gimme Candy Boxes' SVG Kit by SVGCuts.com.  This box is great, and I love how it can be elegant or cute depending on what Halloween paper you use!
I cut everything with SCAL3 and my Silhouette Cameo.  I inked some of the edges and added a little black pearl bling (Queen & Co) underneath the boo.  The cardstock is Authentique's Enchanted Collection.

Halloween Spooktacular Day 13!

Catching up on my Halloween Countdown posts, here's a Halloween basket I created with a file from Lori Whitlock and my Silhouette Cameo.

It's the 3D no glue pumpkin treat basket by Lori Whitlock, available on the Silhouette Online Store.  This basket was another easy and fun project.
The cardstock and elements are from the "All Hallow's Eve" collection by Carta Bella.  Brads are by My Mind's Eye and the twine is from my crafty stash.

3D Coffin - Halloween Spooktacular Day 12

Oh boy! Am I behind on my Halloween Spooktacular Countdown? Yes, yes I am... Sorry about that folks! I have had a crazy busy week and didn't have time to post.  Life kind of just got in the way. But I do have a few more projects to post in the next few days so I suppose I'll just pick up where I left off!

I created this 3D coffin with files (coffin, Mrs. Dracula) from Silhouette Studio and cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo.  This coffin was so easy to glue together.  I cut out 2 of the silhouettes of Mrs. Dracula and used pop dots in the middle for dimension.
I used cardstock from Teresa Collins' Masquerade Party line and twine from Doodlebug. The black cardstock is by Bazzill.
Thanks for stopping by!

Fabulous Friday Tutorial - Filigree Sugar Skull Pendant

Every Friday at the Bombshell Stamps Blog is a Fabulous Friday Tutorial!  My tutorial is featured today and you can see it below or on the Bombshell Stamps Blog!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kim here with a Fabulous Friday Tutorial!  Using the small Sugar Skull from the Sugar Skull Stamp Set, I created a necklace by up-cycling one of my old filigree earrings into a pendant.
The filigree component is actually from a pair of inexpensive earrings I've had for a while, but rarely ever wore.  So I took one of the earrings, removed the ear wire and up-cycled it into this fun lovely necklace.

Supplies:
Bombshell Stamps - Sugar Skull Stamp Set
Filagree Component
Vintaj Round Metal Blank - 34mm
Vintaj Patinas (Ranger Ink) - Onyx, Agate, Ruby
paintbrush
Staz-On Ink in Jet Black
Black embroidery floss
acrylic block
Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (by Inkadinkado)
metal hole punch (Vintaj)
double sided tape - removeable
 chain, clasp and jump rings
jewelry pliers
fine tip Sharpie marker
non stick craft sheet (Ranger)

Here's a picture of the filigree component and round metal blank.  This filigree pendent is already black, but if yours isn't you can always paint it a different color with Vintaj Patinas.  The same technique can be used with any similar metal filigree blank as long as it's larger than your circle blank.

To make sure my stamp fit onto my metal blank, I traced the metal blank circle onto paper and stamped my image.
Next I placed double sided tape onto one side of the circle blank and placed it onto the filigree piece making sure the hole was lined up with an open space on the filigree.  (above left).  Then I flipped the piece over and used a Sharpie to mark where I wanted to punch 3 more holes. (above right).
Next I punched holes in the circle blank where I had marked them with the Sharpie.
I mixed the Onyx and Agate Vintaj Patinas together to make a light gray, painted one side of the circle blank and let it dry.
With the double sided tape still underneath the blank so it doesn't slide around, I stamped the sugar skull stamp using Staz-On ink and the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to help me line everything up.  The stamp-a-ma-jig is great for this because if you hold it firmly enough and push the acyrlic block against it, the stamp won't slide around the metal blank which is something I used to have such a problem with.
I used a small paintbrush and the Ruby Vintaj Patina to paint in the hearts.  I also painted around the edge of the circle with onyx (let it dry) and then a touch of ruby on top if it and let everything dry completely.  Once it was completely dry, I flipped it over and removed the double sided tape.  If you remove the tape and the blank is sticky you will need to clean it up. I was able to scrap the sticky residue off with my nail.  I then carefully painted a light coat of onyx patina onto the back of the blank and let it dry.
I used embroidery floss to attach and secure the sugar skull charm to the filigree component.  You can see the messy back of mine with the knot in the picture above.  I would have used thin black wire but didn't have any on hand. It's attached pretty well, but if you wish you can also attach it with a strong adhesive glue.
To complete the necklace I attached the pendant to some chain with a jump ring and added a clasp.

Have a Bombshell Craftin' Friday!

Catacomb Card - Halloween Spooktacular Day 11!

Hi Everyone!

I loooove the new Catacomb Manor SVG Kit by SVGCuts.com.  It's a fantastic kit!  And depending on the patterned papers you use, it can be spooky elegant or cute for kids. There are so many great elements in it too!  Anyway, I couldn't wait to create one of the projects but I was short on time so, I created the beautiful skull flourish card.  It's super easy to cut out and assemble, the hardest part is picking out the paper and embellishments.

I used the Enchanted Collection by Authentique, which is last year's paper collection. I created this card exactly as it is in the kit.  The only thing I added was the embellishments on the card.  The October 31st and ticket with beware on it are stickers from the same collection.  I also added some bling from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by!

Haunted Glass Cutting Board - Halloween Spooktacular Day 10!

  Hi Everyone!

Does anyone have a Cricut Expression cutting machine out there?  I pulled mine out and dusted it off to make a birthday present for someone using one of the carts and while I had it out, I remembered I have the elegant and spooky Cricut 'Chic & Scary' cartridge by Teresa Collins.  And I recently picked up some small 8 inch round glass cutting boards from the dollar store that have been sitting here waiting to be vinyl-ized!  So I went to work.
I used Silhouette white vinyl and grey Oracal vinyl on my cutting board.
I applied the vinyl to the underside (side you don't cut on) of the cutting board. Since I was cutting out a word, I had to mirror the image before I cut it out.  I should have actually made the spiderweb smaller then I did because it is a little too large and bubbled in a few areas.  But it has still held up, I'm just careful when I hand wash it.
This cutting board has some really great texture on the top and I think it helps make the finished cutting board a little spookier!

Happy Halloween Crafting!
See you tomorrow!

Jack-O-Lantern Cards - Halloween Spooktacular Day 9!

Hey Everyone!  Day 9 is upon us!  Bring out the Jack-O-Lanterns!

I love Jack-O-Lanterns and seeing them lit up at night.  So needless to say yesterday when I saw this 'Realistic Jack-O-Lantern' file by Jennifer Wambach in the Silhouette Online Store, I just knew I needed to make a Jack-O-Lantern shaped card with it.  Using my Silhouette Cameo, that's what I did.
I was iffy on what cardstock colors I wanted to use, so I actually made two cards.
All of the cardstock used for these cards are by Bazzill, but I went with a brown-beige color cardstock for the ribs and a deep orange cardstock for the pumpkin.
Using the same deep orange cardstock as the first card, I used it on the ribs above. Then I used a lighter orange cardstock for the pumpkin.
To make this jack-o-lantern into a card, I duplicated the base of the pumpkin, flipped it so it was mirrored, over-lapped it slightly with the first base and then welded it together. Once I cut it out, I scored it down the middle.

Hope you enjoyed my Jack-O-Lantern cards!

Have you carved your pumpkins yet?  Let me know in the comments below!
